QR Reds meet young fans over the weekend
Hundreds of young fans had the opportunity to meet QR Reds players over the weekend as the squad fanned out across Brisbane and nearby regional areas.
Following on from Friday night’s trial win over the Crusaders where juniors were able to sit with off duty Reds players in Ballymore’s Northern Stand, the Reds were out in force on Saturday morning at all Brisbane Junior Rugby Union club sign on-days.
Two players visited each BJRU club for two hours on Saturday morning in the first of several visits planned for the year, with players to become rugby ambassadors at local clubs in 2010.
On Sunday the Reds contracted squad travelled to the Gold and Sunshine Coasts and the Darling Downs to mingle with supporters as part of ‘Come and Meet the Reds’ fan days.
Led by Wallabies James Horwill and Will Genia, ten players went to the Gold Coast at Robina Town Centre and Westfield Shopping Centre in Helensvale, while the remainder of the squad visited either Stockland Park at Kawana or Gold Park in Toowoomba.
Players posed for photos with their young supporters and signed autographs, while acvtivities included a pass the ball competition and poster and sticker giveaways.
Attendees on the day were also entered into a draw to win a Reds' family membership for the 2010 season.
