Kennedy and Va'aulu help promote recycling at Suncorp Stadium
QR Reds players Jack Kennedy and Brando Va’aulu "did the right thing" at Suncorp Stadium to promote the ‘Do The Right Thing, Use The Right Bin’ campaign to raise awareness of recycling.
The campaign encourages everyone to use the correct bin at all major sporting events as venues involved in the initiative now have clearly marked colour-coded double bins - one for normal waste and the other for recyclable waste.
Kennedy and Va’aulu joined the Minister for Climate Change and Sustainability Kate Jones and three Marist College Ashgrove students in giving an update on the progress the campaign has made since being introduced at Suncorp at the beginning of the 2009 season.
The Minister said recyclable waste collected at Suncorp in 2009 had doubled her Department’s expectations.
Both Kennedy and Va’aulu were on hand to help promote the message, while captain James Horwill appears in a 30 second TVC at each home game encouraging patrons to ‘do the right thing’.
The three Ashgrove students were given Reds souvenirs by Kennedy and Va’aulu on the day.
