Rugby will be back at Ballymore in a big way this week with three days of matches highlighted by the first Investec Bank Super Rugby match at the ground since 2005.

The QR Reds play the Blues from Auckland in New Zealand at Ballymore on the night of Saturday, February 27. It’s round three of the Investec Bank Super 14 competition and interest in the match is expected to be high.

The 6.30pm Super Rugby match will follow a Queensland Country Championships curtain raiser between Darling Downs and Townsville at 4:50pm on No 1 field and an U19 Country Championship match between the same regions on the No 2 field at 2pm.

Tickets for the Super 14 match and Country curtain raiser are available through Ticketek.com, with patrons urged to use public transport to get to the match.

Reserved parking only is available and due to licensing restrictions, alcohol is only permitted to be consumed in designated areas at Ballymore, inside the stadium or by booking a reserved picnic spot at a cost of $110 (this includes one car park space).

Free shuttle buses will operate to Ballymore from the Metro car park at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital and from Stop 125 in Roma Street, Brisbane. These services will start at 4.30pm and run every 15minutes (approximately) with the last bus at 6.15pm. After the match, return services will run between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.

Free shuttle buses will also operate at the same times from and to the following Brisbane rugby clubs: Sunnybank, Brothers, Wests, University and Easts, also starting at 4.30pm and running every 15minutes (approximately) with the last bus at 6.15pm. After the match, return services to the clubs will run between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.

While the shuttle bus services are free of charge, the use of any connecting trains, buses or ferries will require purchase of a fare. The public transport network is only free for matches at Suncorp Stadium.

On Sunday, February 28, the QAS Reds 2nd XV will play the Junior Waratahs on Ballymore No 2 at 3pm. Admission to this match is free, as is on-site parking.

Next Wednesday night (February 24), the QAS Reds 2nd XV will play touring Argentine rugby team Club Atletico San Isidro at 7.15pm following a 5.30pm match between a Queensland Premier Rugby XV and the Club Atletico San Isidro B side. Admission to these games is also free as is on-site parking.
