Training for Queensland Women's team trials begin
The first of four open training sessions for female players wanting to trial for the national champion Queensland Women’s rugby team begin at Ballymore next Wednesday (March 24), with selection trials scheduled for Saturday, April 18.
Players wishing to trial for a place in the Queensland squad to compete at the 2010 Women’s Rugby National Championships in Canberra are encouraged to attend training at Ballymore from 6:30pm to 8:00pm every Wednesday night from March 24.
The Queensland Women’s coaching staff will select two Brisbane-based teams from the open training sessions for the selection trials in April, which will also include a team from Cairns and a fourth team made up of individual players from across the State. Each selection trial will be played with 15 minute halves and under senior rugby laws.
The National Championships commence on Friday, June 4, and conclude with the final on Monday, June 7. Queensland is the current title holder after beating Sydney in the final of the 2009 championships, to claim the title for the first time since 2006.
