Volvo Car Australia joins Queensland Rugby family
Volvo Car Australia in conjunction with its Brisbane-based dealer, Austral Volvo, has announced its support of the new look QR Reds as official vehicle provider.
Queensland Rugby CEO Jim Carmichael said Queensland Rugby and the Reds had undergone a major revamp in the past six months, with new administration and coaching staff and a fresh approach to playing rugby that has won praise from fans and rivals alike.
“We have a young team playing with the freshness, enthusiasm and commitment of youth which we believe is capable of significant improvement this season and which has shown clear signs of that already,” Mr Carmichael said.
“Volvo recognises that ours is a team, an organisation and a code on the move and has become a welcome member of our rugby family here in Queensland,” Mr Carmichael added.
Volvo Car Australia managing director Alan Desselss said the company was delighted to now be aligned with the Reds.
“Volvo is a strong and dynamic company that aligns itself with entities that reflect our core brand values. We are proud and pleased with the extension of our role within the Australian rugby arena and look forward to being part of the QR Reds team and the Queensland Rugby family. We wish the team the best of luck this season.”
The QR Reds will have home-ground advantage when they clash with Volvo’s other major rugby partner, Perth’s Western Force, tomorrow (Sunday 14 March) at Suncorp Stadium in the Investec Bank Super 14 competition.
