Women's Rugby in Queensland
There are a range of opportunities for Women to play Rugby Union in Queensland. Club competitions are run in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Cairns and Central Queensland and each year Queensland Rugby Union sends a Queensland side to the ARU National Championships.
National Women's Championships
The final of the 2008 national titles was played at Palm Beach-Currumbin rugby club, with Queensland losing 6-5 to defending champions Sydney.
Selena Tranter scored the only try of the match and was rewarded for her good form with selection in both the 2008 Wallaroos and Sevens squad.
Wallaroos
Queensland has a proud tradition of providing players to the National Women's Rugby team.
Seven members of the 2008 Queensland Women's team were selected in the national side, with three of them also making the Australian 7s squad.
Queensland representatives are:
Wallaroos: Iliseva Batibasaga, Tasileta Bethell, Vanessa Bradley, Trisha Brown, Sarah Hind, Se'ei Sa'u, Selena Tranter
Australian 7's: Iliseva Batibasaga, Trisha Brown, Selena Tranter
The Wallaroos will play the NZ Black Ferns in Canberra on October 14.
The 7's Squad will travel to Samoa on July 25 and 26 to secure a spot for the iRB World Cup 7s in Dubai in 2009.
