Volunteer Recognition
Rugby could not function without the vast army of unsung heroes who coach and manage the teams, slice the oranges, run the barbecue, wash the jerseys and 1,001 other tasks that are performed unselfishly week-in, week-out.
Now there's a way you can say "thanks", through the QRU's Volunteer Recognition program.
Anyone who volunteers their time to rugby in Queensland is eligible for nomination, with the top volunteer in each of three categories to receive a higher recognition. You can enter in one of the following categories:
"Thanks Coach"
People nominated in this category should be actively involved in coaching at any level.
"Thanks Official"
People nominated in this category should be actively involved in refereeing or officiating at any level.
"Thanks Volunteer"
This applies to anyone who is involved with rugby at a club or school-based level. Whether they run the water, help in the canteen, around the grounds or wash the jerseys. They help out at any level to make the game of rugby and your team operate smoothly.
There will be one overall yearly winner in each category and one overall "Volunteer of the Year" award.
Everyone has an equal chance, whether coach, official, jersey washer, canteen helper etc.
