Junior players from as far afield as Gympie converged on Quad Park on the Sunshine Coast to watch the QR Reds in one of their pre-season training sessions.

Several hundred juniors and their parents ignored showery weather for the opportunity to meet their heroes, who put in a solid session before moving to a nearby beach for another workout.

The Sunshine Coast Junior Rugby Union organised a free sausage sizzle and a passing competition overseen by local National Talent Squad members to keep the kids entertained, while the Reds thanked their young supporters in traditional fashion by applauding as they ran through a players' tunnel.

The Reds will also open the following training sessions to fans:

Tues 20/11: 4.00-5.30pm Brisbane Grammar School sports fields, Northgate
Thurs 22/11: 6.00-7.30pm Ballymore
