Very few people were game to say no when giant QR Reds prop Greg Holmes rattled the collection tin for Austereo's Christmas Appeal in aid of the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation.

Greg, scrumhalf Will Genia, backrower Leroy Houston and Reds Forwards coach Mark Bell were on the job early this morning at the Gateway Bridge tollbooths collecting for the appeal, which runs until Friday, December 7.

"The boys raised a shedload of money over about three hours and they really enjoyed it," said Bell.

"I think Holmesy collected the most. One bloke handed over $100."

The Austereo Christmas Appeal raises funds for the expensive medical equipment needed to improve the care and treatment of sick kids.
