Sports physiotherapist Col O'Brien, who spent a decade preparing and repairing some of Queensland Rugby's finest players, has died at the age of 61.

Col O'Brien was the QRU's honorary physiotherapist and conditioner from 1981 to 1990 and also worked with a number of Queensland and Australian sporting teams including the 1984 LA Olympic team.

He died of a heart attack while out running on Monday.

His funeral will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Villiers St, New Farm on Monday at 10.30am.
