Family friendly prices return for 2009 QR Reds season
The QR Reds’ new budget-friendly membership packages will offer a night of Investec Super 14 rugby excitement at Suncorp Stadium for just over $10 per head for a family of four.
The six game packages released for sale today (October 1) include a “two kids free” $250 season ticket option for families that works out to just over $41 per match for a family of two adults and two children (15 and under). For larger families, additional child season memberships are available in the same silver category for $60.
The 2009 six game home game program will include matches against the Hurricanes, Chiefs and Brumbies.
The budget-friendly family prices continue the trend begun in 2007 of making a night at the rugby cheering on the Reds a family affair and offering significant savings on buying the same tickets match-by-match.
“We reduced family membership prices last year and we’ve taken another $100 off the Silver Family price this year, which is more than the pro-rata difference between the seven home games last year and six this year,” said Queensland Rugby CEO Ken Freer.
“We have a strategy to reconnect the Reds with their grassroots fans and making matches more accessible for families is an important part of that,” Mr Freer said.
As in 2007 and 2008, a designated alcohol-free area has been set aside for families in the Silver membership category.
The Reds’ six home match Super 14 program in 2009 means season membership prices in the Silver, Gold and Platinum seats in one of the best rugby viewing stadiums in Australia are lower than for the 2008 seven home match season.
Mr Freer said as a loyalty reward, 2008 members were given an opportunity to renew their membership at a preferential rate before today’s public release of 2009 memberships.
University students and other face-painted supporters will again congregate in the "Red Zone" behind the goal posts, where non-member season passes for over-18s only are $125 ($20.80 per game ) and just $95 for students over 18 ($15.80 per game).

Individual season membership packages for six Super 14 games range from $125 (Silver) to $380 (Platinum) for new members, while Family packages (2 adults and 2 juniors 15 and under) are $250 (Silver) and $460 (Gold). Additional junior seats are $60 (Silver) and $80 (Gold) for the season.
The season memberships also include free access to a proposed pre-season trial match against the Western Force at Ballymore and other benefits as listed at www.redsrugby.com.au.
Individual match tickets will go on sale early in 2009.
